May weight update: Did I drop or did I hold?

Well, hello again! Thank you for being with me another day. I can’t wait to update you on my journey and how I ended the month of May 2021, the hardest, roughest, toughest month I have had to endure to date.

Let’s begin.

If May was a person and I would walk up to him/her and seriously ask what their problem was. I went into May with nothing but high hopes, aspirations, and plans. The weather was getting warmer; it is the month of Mother’s Day, movies were making a comeback to the theater; what could happen in such a beautiful month?

Welp, a lot. My 9-5 was quite unbearable and stressful; usually, it is a piece of cake. I log on, answer calls, provide great A-1 customer service. I clock out, get paid, and repeat. For 14 months, this job has been lovely, not a bad word to say, but something happened in May; something was in the water that drove every customer, account manager, and coworker insane. It was as if someone implanted the Valentine chip from the Kingsman into our desk phones, and everyone wanted to off the other.

But this is not the time to vent about work we are gathered here today to see if I stuck to my plan and despite all the stress my job put me through, I did.

I started the month of May at 276.2 pounds, and on the last day of May, I weighed in at 269.0. I rechecked my weight on June 1st to ensure it wasn’t a fluke and came in at 268.2. I… am…pleased. I kept my body moving in one way or another and watched very closely how much I was eating. Don’t get me wrong; I am indeed an emotional eater. I still struggled with food demons. A customer would be upset, and my initial thought was to eat 3 out of 8 cinnamon rolls (I didn’t…but I wanted to.)

I dropped 8 pounds; I checked the numbers twice. Now, if it was water or fat, who knows, but I’ll take it and be happy. I will keep this short today and will post the goals for June soon. Let me know in the comments how your journey is going. I would love to hear from you. Until then, have a great night and be safe!

Hi, I’m T—a storyteller, a widow, and someone who believes that healing and hope can be found in the pages of a good book. Writing has always been my way of making sense of the world, but after a few detours (including brain surgery, double shifts, and life showing me its toughest side), I’ve come back to the page with more fire than ever. Widow Tales is my debut, born from late-night scribbles and quiet moments where grief met imagination. It’s a love letter to second chances, resilience, and the kind of romance that makes you laugh, cry, and maybe blush a little too. When I’m not writing, you can usually find me with a good playlist, a journal close by, and probably talking to my husky and cats like they're my manager or my editors. This space is where I’ll share pieces of my journey...writing, life, and everything in between. Pull up a chair, you’re welcome here.
