Hello, 43! August update

Hello, my friends! I am back from vacation and ready to get back to business.

I am a whole year older and even though I did not hit my goal I felt stronger and more in control of my eating.

But first, let’s get an update on my weight. August was a fair month with me losing between 3.8 and 5.2 pounds. I am not 100% sure because before I left for St. Lucia I weighed in at 262.2 and when I returned 8/30 (not pictured) I was back up to 267. I did get a starting weight for September on the 4th which put me at around 263. I’m not sure if that was considered travel bloat, but for the most part, I think I did “ok”.

Let me look on the bright side here my numbers could have been a lot worse. We went to Sandals Regency La Toc in St. Lucia which is a ALL-INCLUSIVE resort. My approach towards anything “all-inclusive” in the past could have been considered downright abusive and gluttonous. I would order room service because I was hungry, bored, awake, or just because I could. All-inclusive to me meant there were no limits to my food imagination.

This vacation was different. I felt that there was a part of me outside my body guiding my choices and chaperoning my activities in a positive way.

How I ate during my vacation.

Breakfast: Coffee with stevia/Splenda. Lots of proteins (eggs, sausages, and salted fish). Fruits. I did have steak and eggs on the second day, but I swear it had to be toddler-sized. No seconds, thirds, etc.

Walk back to the room which was up a steep hill (I complained the entire time)

Lunch- we ate lunch one time during our stay and that was artisanal pizza. I had Hawaiian and I did not eat the whole pizza. I was mostly pizza crust with 4 pineapple pieces and 3 ham slices…meh.

Dinner was tricky. The first night was chosen for us and that was a surf and turf dinner of steak and lobster with vegetables. I think this was the only regular-sized meal I had on the resort as everything else was made for children age 4-9. The meals which consisted of a portion of protein, starch, and vegetable were decorative and delicious just tiny.

Basically

Now I know I complained about the size of the food, but to be honest, I wasn’t as hungry as I thought I would be, actually I wasn’t hungry at all. That caught me off guard a few times when I expected or even planned to overeat, but decided against it once I was in front of food.

I’m 43 and I’m still learning how to eat…I’m ok with that.

Until next time my lovelies stay safe and have a healthy day

Hi, I’m T—a storyteller, a widow, and someone who believes that healing and hope can be found in the pages of a good book. Writing has always been my way of making sense of the world, but after a few detours (including brain surgery, double shifts, and life showing me its toughest side), I’ve come back to the page with more fire than ever. Widow Tales is my debut, born from late-night scribbles and quiet moments where grief met imagination. It’s a love letter to second chances, resilience, and the kind of romance that makes you laugh, cry, and maybe blush a little too. When I’m not writing, you can usually find me with a good playlist, a journal close by, and probably talking to my husky and cats like they're my manager or my editors. This space is where I’ll share pieces of my journey...writing, life, and everything in between. Pull up a chair, you’re welcome here.
