“Losing Weight is Hard!”

tired black woman with instructor in winter park

Have you ever seen that motivational post pop up on your Instagram or Facebook feed? You are minding your own business and there it is to remind you wherever you go, wherever you scroll:

Now I get the message, but whenever I see it I do become a little irked. I’m not sitting here choosing to be fat, but am I doing everything I can to lose weight, and become healthy? Yes and well I’m trying. I promised that I would be here on the journey with you and I meant it. As I work on this post it is 12:35 am April 5th. I’m tired and quite sleepy, but I made a promise to do my best and well that’s what I am here to do. So, what does my “best” look like right now? If you look at my Apple watch stats I can find time in my day to get between 1 to 15 minutes of exercise, I am capable of closing my move ring easily and I just barely close the ring for standing. I have also included my stats for my weight … I will put in the work

Now I still have time to close all my rings and my goal tonight is to do just that- hey its still early. As long as we keep moving we can achieve our goals right? Let me know if you have any tips or tricks to share to get past that 15 min slump. My goal is to hit 30 minutes every day this week…one way or another.

Well TTFN! I have to go earn 19 minutes of exercise and 4 hours of standing to close my rings.

See you next time

Hi, I’m T—a storyteller, a widow, and someone who believes that healing and hope can be found in the pages of a good book. Writing has always been my way of making sense of the world, but after a few detours (including brain surgery, double shifts, and life showing me its toughest side), I’ve come back to the page with more fire than ever. Widow Tales is my debut, born from late-night scribbles and quiet moments where grief met imagination. It’s a love letter to second chances, resilience, and the kind of romance that makes you laugh, cry, and maybe blush a little too. When I’m not writing, you can usually find me with a good playlist, a journal close by, and probably talking to my husky and cats like they're my manager or my editors. This space is where I’ll share pieces of my journey...writing, life, and everything in between. Pull up a chair, you’re welcome here.
